Greenhouse Day

The day I took this photo I was reminded of a mixing of cultures. The ferns growing next to a palm tree and the mix-up of plants was really cool to see. The damp, warm feeling of the room made me feel like I was in a rainforest. It made me disappointed that they were getting rid of the greenhouse, because now I can relate to the place.

My Favorite Reading

I really liked the journaling we did on Terry Tempest Williams. It made me connect the most to what we were writing about. The city I grew up in wasn't rural, but it wasnt a big city either. Everyday I passed the same areas and experienced most of my life in Sioux City. The way she talks about landscape that she passes made me think more about areas that I hold memories with and it was a very reminiscant day for me. I looked through pictures on my computer and played music from the ninties just because thats what I think about when I am reminded of from the places I grew up in.

Sioux City hometown

This is a lake twenty minutes out of Sioux City. The photo always reminds me of my hometown and how it has not really been touched by the bigger city life. On the day of this photo I happened to catch my first Northern Pike from the lake. It was one of the first fish that my grandpa had come to see. This was very nice to me, because I was used to just doing things around the house for him. The day he came out was the day I caught a fish that he was proud of. I never really knew that the lake supported those kind of fish and it surprised me and him, so whenever I drive past the lake I think about this photo and that day.
